Kharge Accuses Kapil Sibal of Deliberately Trying To Weaken Congress

Mumbai: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha (LoP) Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday accused Kapil Sibal of trying to weaken the Congress and said he may be a good lawyer but he is not a mass leader as he is not aware of the ground realities about politics.

Congress G-23, which includes Kapil Sibal, Anand Sharma and Ghulam Nabi Azad, has been demanding the reorganization of the organization under the party leadership for the past two years following the defeat in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Attacking Sibal, Kharge said, “He never went to any village, district or state and worked for the Congress party. So he does not know the desire of the Congress workers. Therefore he does not know anything about the party.”

He also urged party interim president Sonia Gandhi to take action against those leaders who are not working for the good of the party, saying Sibal was deliberately weakening the party.

He further said, “In the wake of electoral defeat in five states, Sonia Gandhi has demanded the resignation of all state party chiefs to facilitate overhaul of local units. Sibal is scripting unnecessary controversy.

CWC has given full authority to take necessary action against those who are holding party posts and are not working to strengthen the party.
