Maharashtra CM Assures Complete Farm Loan Waiver

Mumbai: In a recent development, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has assured complete farm loan waiver in the state.

Thackeray’s statement comes a day after the Shiv Sena-led government formally approved the loan waiver scheme, under which short-term crop loans of up to Rs 2 lakh were taken by farmers between April 1, 2015, and March 31, 2019. Were.

Under this scheme, short-term restructuring crop loan arrears up to September 30, 2019, will also be waived.

Thackeray said, “We have waived a loan of Rs 2 lakh (per farmer) as an immediate relief to the cultivators. But we will also ensure that their (crop) loan is waived.”

He was addressing the annual general meeting of the Vasantdada Sugar Institute here. NCP President Sharad Pawar, who is the president of the institute, was also present.

During his speech, Thackeray criticized former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for his statement that the BJP was the single largest party in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

Shiv Sena president, Thackeray said, “Sharad Pawar has taught us how to develop more and more from an area with less land, and how to form a government with fewer MLAs.”

The three parties formed the Maha Vikas Agadi (MVA) government in November-end. Pawar is considered the chief architect of the ruling alliance, the first such political system at the state level in the history of Maharashtra.
