Mamta Banerjee Accuses Center Of Using Force To Silence The Distressed Voices Of Kashmir

Mumbai: Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamta Banerjee on Wednesday accused the BJP led central government of using violent force against the people from Jammu and Kashmir who tried to raise their voice against their discomfort with all the government adjustment.

While addressing a student rally she said, “What is going on in Kashmir? The government is using brute force to scuffle all the voices of dissent in the valley,” she further went on to the dare the government to arrest her for raising voice against the issue. She also said that she would not bow down before the BJP.

The abrogation of article 370 has created unrest amongst the people of Kashmir valley and it is evident that not all the Kashmiris are totally happy with the abrogation. Social media accounts and other blogging platforms on the Internet are working diligently to educate people about the real ‘ground’ situations in Kashmir are not really like what the government in depicting.

The Kashmiri Hindus and Muslims alike feel betrayed by the Indian government as it did not ask or discussed the abrogation with the state’s authorities. It is clear that there is unrest but the question arises when there is no voice raised from the people of the valley or rather their voices aren’t highlighted.

Mamta Banerjee alleged that the government is actually taking actions against those trying to come out and explain situations. “All the institutions are headed by retired persons who have no accountability. They are just following the orders of government like the yes men,” she said.

According to her, the country is heading towards the Presidential form of government and there will be no place for democracy. “The central government is either threatening opposition leaders or buying them out with money. It is after Bengal now as we are opposing its policies and divisive plans”
