‘My Statement Is Being Misconstrued’: Punjab CM Channi Clarifies His ‘UPBihar Ke Bhaiya’ Remark

Mumbai: Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday clarified his statement of ‘Bhaiyya of UP-Bihar’ and said that his statement is being misinterpreted.

Channi highlighted that till now all the migrant workers who have come to Punjab have taken it on the path of development by laying tiles.

He said, “My statement is being misinterpreted. All the migrant workers who have come to Punjab till now, they have worked hard and taken it on the path of development. We only love them, nothing has changed.”

In post-poll Punjab, the chief minister highlighted that he was talking about people who come from outside and create disturbances here.

“I was talking about people who come from outside and create disruptions here. Punjab is as much of the people of UP-Bihar, Rajasthan and elsewhere, who come here and work, as much as it is ours. So, it is not right to present it in any other manner,” said Congress leader.

Addressing an election rally in Abohar, PM Modi also said that the BJP government will assure the security and development of Punjab.

Addressing a roadshow on Wednesday, Charanjit Singh Channi said, “Don’t let the brother of UP and Bihar enter Punjab.”

When he made this remark, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi could be seen smiling and applauding by standing next to him.

It is noteworthy that the assembly elections in Punjab will be held on February 20 and the counting of votes will take place on March 10.
