New COVID Restrictions In 11 Haryana Districts; Markets To Open Till 6 pm, Cinema Halls Shut

Mumbai: Haryana government imposed new restrictions in six more districts amid rising COVID-19 cases.

The districts are Karnal, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Rohtak, and Jhajjar, which have been added to the existing five which are Gurugram, Faridabad, Ambala, Panchkula and Sonipat. Also Read: J&K Imposes Complete Restriction On Non-Essential Movement From 9 pm To 6 am

The restrictions were imposed in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ambala, Panchkula and Sonipat from January 2 to 12.

According to the latest order issued by the Haryana State Disaster Management Authority on Wednesday, restrictions will remain in force in all 11 districts till 5 am on January 12.

The order states that cinema halls, theatres and multiplexes will remain closed.

Malls and markets will be allowed to open till 6 pm. However, shops selling essential commodities like milk and medicine shops will be allowed to open at all times so that they can serve the public at large.

According to the restrictions imposed earlier in five districts, the closing time of malls and markets was 5 pm.

The order stated that all sports complexes, swimming pools and stadiums shall remain closed except those used for training of players for participation in national and international sporting events.

It states that all amusement parks and B2B performances are prohibited.

Government and private offices have been advised to function with 50 per cent staff presence, except for emergency/essential services.

It has been said in the order that its order of January 1 and other restrictions applicable till January 12 will continue as before.

Notably, Haryana has witnessed a huge increase in the number of COVID cases in the last week.

According to official data, the state recorded 2,176 cases on Wednesday, up from 1,132 on Tuesday.

The data said that of the 2,176 cases reported on Wednesday, 1,178 were from Gurgaon alone. Several other districts are also witnessing a rise in cases.

To prevent the spread of the viral infection, the state government banned people eligible for vaccination, but not fully vaccinated, from entering shopping malls, cinema halls, restaurants and grain markets from January 1.

A night curfew from 11 pm to 5 am is already in force in the state.
