Night Curfew Imposed In Ludhiana From 9pm To 5am

Mumbai: To prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, the Ludhiana district administration has imposed a night curfew between 9 pm and 5 am.

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma said,” We have imposed a night curfew between 9 pm and 5 am indefinite. Night curfews are intended to discourage unnecessary gatherings at night.”

“For the past two weeks, the number of cases has increased significantly. Previously, we used to do 4000 trials with a positivity rate of about one per cent, now it has gone up to 5-6 per cent. The average number of deaths per week was seven. Now it is 25-30. It is a cause for concern, “Sharma said.

He further stated that another cause for concern is the steady increase in the number of hospitals.

He said, “Currently, we have 377 hospitalized patients which were 27 weeks ago. More and more young people are being hospitalized and also from far-flung places, not just from the cities,” he further said.

“We are going to have a meeting with the big hospitals today and will increase the number of beds in them,” he said.

Meanwhile, India has reported 39,726 fresh COVID-19 cases, 20,654 recoveries and 154 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry.
