‘No Vaccine, No Entry’ Order Issued In Maha’s Ahmednagar Amid Omicron Scare

Mumbai: Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district has issued a “no vaccine, no entry” order, effective from Saturday, in view of the rising cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the state.

The order was issued by Collector Rajendra Bhosale and will come into effect from Saturday.

People who have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) are allowed to enter various public areas including private establishments, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, cinemas, auditoriums, marriage halls, government or semi-government offices.

An official told news agency PTI that as per the order, it has been made mandatory for people visiting these places to take at least one dose of the Kovid-19 vaccine and follow the appropriate behaviour of Kovid-19.

Earlier, the Nashik district administration had implemented the “No Vaccine, No Entry” order, under which people who have not been vaccinated for the coronavirus disease are not allowed to enter commercial and public establishments, like malls, cinemas halls, restaurants and government, public offices.

Maharashtra has so far detected 108 cases of Omicron type in the state, forcing the state government to ban gatherings of more than five people in public places from 9 pm to 6 am. Apart from the measures, the measures come into force from midnight of December. 24-25.

Maharashtra on Friday reported 1,410 new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally to 66,54,755 in the state. In one go, 868 people have recovered from the disease, taking the total number of people who have recovered in the state to 65,01,243.
