Nobody Is Bigger Than Farmers In India: Priyanka After PM’s Announcement On Farm Laws

In a series of tweets, Priyanka Gandhi had alleged that PM Modi ignored farmers protests & Lakhimpur Kheri violence

Mumbai: After the Centre’s decision to withdraw the three contentious laws, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Friday slammed the central government and said that the government has finally understood that nobody is bigger than farmers.

“When farmers were being killed, batons were being used & they were being arrested -who was doing it? Your govt. Today you say that the laws will be repealed. How are we going to trust you? I’m happy that Govt understood that nobody is bigger than farmers in this nation:” Priyanka quoted by ANI. Also Read: PM Narendra Modi Withdraws Three Farm Laws, Apologises To The Nation

Taking a swipe at the BPJ-led Centre, she further said that the government has analyzed that the situation is not in their favour as assembly elections approach.

“Why is he doing this? Is the nation not understanding that polls are approaching & they might’ve felt that situation isn’t right. They can see in surveys that the situation isn’t right. So, they’ve come to apologise before polls,” she said in Lucknow.

Priyanka added, “What did the leaders of the Govt not call the farmers? ‘Aandolanjeevi’, goons, terrorists, traitors – who called them all this? Why was the PM silent when all of this was being said? He himself uttered the word ‘aandolanjeevi.’”

In a series of tweets, Priyanka Gandhi had alleged that PM Modi ignored farmers protests & Lakhimpur Kheri violence and decided to repel the 3 farm laws only after seeing defeat in the upcoming assembly elections.

Priyanka Gandhi is leading the Congress’ campaign in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Assembly elections next year.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Central government will repeal the three contentious farm laws as they failed to ‘convince farmers.’
