“NYAY To Be Rolled-Out In Phases To 5 crore Poor Families”, Congress Leader P.Chidambaram
Mumbai: On Wednesday, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said that the new income guarantee scheme to 5 crores poor families in the country will be rolled out in phases a than the money will be credited.
While talking at a press conference former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, said that ‘enough’ economists and experts advise were taken into consideration and it resulted that India is capable to implement this scheme.
Chidambaram said Former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan had said that NYAY can be possible in India.
He said, ‘It will be 1.8% of the GDP, it won’t cross 2%’.
‘The scheme will cover 5 crore families and will be rolled into phases’, he added.
He said, ‘Experts will be presented for the implementation of the project so that to work successfully. Concern and advice will be taken by experts before the party move to any further stage’.
‘Data is enough to recognize these 5 crore families’, Chidambaram.
In the year 2009, when the 100 days employment scheme (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) was implemented, Arun Jaitley had said that it will be not possible to deliver this scheme.

Chidambaram said that Arun Jaitley had not to mention doubling farmer’s income won’t be possible when PM Narendra Modi had announced it.
He said that The Congress solely cannot be abused to not eliminate poverty. Several measures were taken to foot it out, some were successful and some were not.
‘Minimum income is needed to eradicate poverty or otherwise, it will not end’, he said.
Like, the Minimum Wages Act which delivers minimum wages as every family should have little income because The Centre cannot credit the whole income. Hence, NYAY is been called as ‘Minimum Income Support Scheme’.
On Monday, Congress President, Rahul Gandhi stated that they will implement ‘Nyuntam Aay Yojana’ (NYAY) from which 72,000 rupees each year will be granted to the 20% poorest family if Congress came into power.
Chidambaram said that the party knows its barriers to implement the scheme and ‘we will overcome all the barriers’.
‘We will request that every woman in the family to open an account in a bank as money will be credited into the account in women of the family’.
Answering to a question he criticizes BJP party saying, ‘Don’t compare ‘Kisan Samman Scheme with Nyay and make it unimportant’. Chidambaram questioned and asked, ‘Had the scheme been essential for BJP, why it did not launch in its tenure of five years-5 time budget.
He signalized that on 2nd April, Congress manifesto could be launch.
Congress President Rahul had said, ‘As the part of ‘final assault of poverty’, this scheme is different and unique over all the countries in the world. From NYAY, minimum income guarantee will be delivered’.
Nights of 2 weeks are left for due Lok Sabha elections which will be started on 11th April and will continue till May 19th. Results will be declared on 23rd May.
