Odisha CM Asks People To Ready Their Papers In Three Months

Mumbai: The Odisha Chief Minister on Monday directed the enforcement agencies not to go on an aggressive overdrive in collecting the traffic violation policies. Heavy resentments came in over the increased fine amounts under the Motor Vehicle Act, 2019. The CM, however, increased the due date to get the papers ready to three months thus giving the public a breather.

Naveen has also directed to increase the number of counters to help people reach the facilities easily with less hassle and open camps in public institutions.

He said, “Transport Dept has been directed to augment public services, strengthen Facilitation Centres, open extra counters, conducts camps in public institutions to enable motor vehicle users to update their compliance status. This process will continue over the next 3 months”

The process will continue for three months and people are asked to obey the traffic rules and do the necessary process for the smooth functioning of law. The press release further added that massive road safety awareness campaigns will also be carried out to educate people on road safety.

The Motor Vehicle Act, 2019 will bring a transformation in the penalties. For starters, the act makes it compulsory to have Adhaar card to own a licence and for vehicle registration. For death, in a hit and run cases, the government will pay Rs. 2 lakhs to the deceased’s family, while at present the amount
