Odisha Relaxes Night Curfew By An Hour, Allows Saraswati Puja In Educational Institutions

Mumbai: Odisha government on Monday issued new COVID-19 guidelines and revised the night curfew timing. The night curfew in urban areas will now remain in effect from 10 pm to 5 am against the previous timing of 9 pm to 5 am.

According to the latest notification issued by the Odisha government, shops, malls, shopping complexes, markets, haats, cinema halls, swimming pools, entertainment complexes, theatres, auditoriums, assembly halls are allowed to operate from 5 am to 10 pm. Also Read: Maharashtra Relaxes COVID Curbs, Parks & Beaches To Open In 11 Districts

Saraswati Puja has been allowed in temples but no devotee will be allowed. Very few students are present in the schools for the worship ceremony. Large gatherings on river banks, ghats, ponds and beaches are prohibited for bathing on Magha Saptami.

Restaurants are allowed to open for home delivery services during the night curfew. Emergency services will continue even during the night curfew. Restaurants and online aggregators like Swiggy, Zomato, Chilka Fresh etc allowed home delivery of food, groceries, vegetables, egg, fish, meat, milk and other essential products.

State government offices and PSUs, corporations, committees and autonomous bodies are allowed to function with 100 per cent capacity following the COVID-19 protocol. In the order issued by Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Jena, it has been said that online meetings and training should be encouraged.

Odisha government employees, who test positive for COVID-19, are allowed to take leave for a week, an official release said.

The notification said, “In the present situation of the third wave of COVID-19, it has been decided that seven days leave should be granted to any employee in case of COVID-19 infection. This directive will come into force with immediate effect,” the notification said.

Odisha reported 3,329 fresh COVID cases and 18 more fatalities on January 31, 2022. A six-year-old girl succumbed to the deadly contagious virus in Dhenkanal.

Odisha now has 47,210 active COVID cases.
