Over 14.78 Crore COVID-19 Vaccines Administered So Far: Centre

Mumbai: According to the Union Health Ministry’s latest provisional report, 25.56 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered in India on April 27.

With that, more than 14.78 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far.

On April 27, 15.69 lakh beneficiaries received their first shot and 9.87 lakh people were given their second dose. This included healthcare and frontline workers, people aged over 60 and beneficiaries above the age of 45 with or without comorbidities.

However, the government had earlier revised the gap between the two doses for the Oxford-AstraZeneca’s Covishield, being manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, to six eight weeks. However, the interval for the second dose of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin remains unchanged.

“These include 93,47,775 HCWs who have taken the 1st dose and 61,06,237 HCWs who have taken the 2nd dose, 1,22,21,975 FLWs (1stdose), 65,26,378 FLWs (2nddose), 5,10,85,677 1st dose beneficiaries and 93,37,292 2nd dose beneficiaries more than 60 years old and 5,02,74,581 (1st dose) and 29,27,452 (2nd dose) beneficiaries aged 45 to 60 years,” it said.

With 2,61,162 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, India’s cumulative recoveries stand at 1,48,17,371. The national recovery rate is 82.33 per cent whereas 10 states account for 79.01 per cent of the new recoveries.

However, India’s total active caseload has reached 29,78,709 and it now comprises 16.55 per cent of the country’s total positive cases, the health ministry said while adding that a net incline of 96,505 cases recorded from the total active caseload in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the national mortality rate has been falling and currently stands at 1.12 per cent.

As per health ministry data, 3,293 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
