Owing To The Opposition And Public Pressure, Maha Government Forced To Relax COVID19 Restrictions: BJP Leader Ashish Shelar

Mumbai: Speaking with the media after the assembly, BJP leader MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar informed that the government decided not to hold public gatherings in the form of swagat yatra for Gudi Padwa (New Year as per the Hindu calendar) and another procession during Ram Navmi. But owing to the pressure from the Opposition and the people who insisted on holding these processions, the government finally relaxed all the restrictions.

Shelar questioned the government asking Why was this decision delayed for so long? Why was this decision not taken during the previous cabinet meeting? Why did you take this decision now, especially when Gudi Padwa is just two days away? Was this permission expected to come from some party office in Delhi? Principally, they will notice that this decision was not taken voluntarily. But the decision was taken due to the constant pressure from the Opposition and the people.

Attempts were being made to prevent hosting the swagat yatra during this Hindu New Year celebration. The government tried to create fear that Mumbai is under terror attack and is expected to be carried out with the help of drones, only to restrict people from coming together to celebrate their New Year.

If the police have such information, there is no reason for anyone to object to the security measures. But this was only a conspiracy to impose restrictions on the celebration of Hindu festivals. Since we insisted and people also participated, the government was forced to relax the restrictions, said MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar.

He asked the government if the compulsion of wearing a mask is lifted then this decision is expected to be made based on the advice of some medical study group. He even questioned the government about unaccounted recovery happening in the name of compulsive wearing of masks in every nook and corner.
