Pakistan Is A Habitual Offender, Should Put Own House In Order: India At UN

Mumbai: After Pakistan’s caretaker PM Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar mentioned Kashmir at the UN General Assembly, India said that Pakistan has become a “habitual offender” in “misusing the august forum to peddle malicious propaganda against India”.

Petal Gahlot, First Secretary for the second committee of the General Assembly, added Pakistan should put its own house in order before pointing a finger at India.

“Member states of the United Nations and other multilateral organizations are well aware that Pakistan does so to deflect the international community’s attention away from its own abysmal record on human rights. We reiterate that the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir are an integral part of India. Matters pertaining to the UTs of J&K and Ladakh are purely internal to India. Pakistan has no locus stand to comment on our domestic matters”, she added.

Pakistan has attempted to internationalize Jammu and Kashmir over the years at international venues like the UN. Pakistan has been under fire from India for harboring terrorists there.

After the terrorist assault in Pulwama on February 14, 2019, which resulted in the deaths of 40 members of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), tensions between India and Pakistan grew.

India replied by conducting airstrikes in Pakistan’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province’s Balakot.Six months later that year, India repealed Article 370, stripping Jammu and Kashmir of its special status.

The previous state was divided into the territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh when Article 370 was repealed.
