Parliament Session to Begin From June 17, Sitharaman To Present Budget On July 5

Mumbai: The Parliament is to organize the budget session from June 17 to July 26 and the elections for the president will be held on June 19. This decision was taken in the first cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.

On the first day of the budget session, President Ram Nath Kovind will address the joint session of both Houses and the election of the President will be on June 19.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her first Union Budget for 2019-20 on July 5, the government announced today.

The first full budget will be presented for 2019-20, as the government presented the interim budget in February.
Earlier Piyush Goyal had announced the increment in tax exemption limit and direct transfer of Rs 6000 to farmers who own two hectares of land or less.

Prior to the interim budget, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) had suggested to the government to reduce corporate tax by 25 per cent and bring it up to 18 per cent in a phased manner. This suggestion can be taken by the government which was previously neglected.

With a clear majority in Parliament, the government may be ready to present a prudent budget and avoid any populist measures.
