Pay Farmers Within 72 Hours Of Crop Procurement: UP CM To Officials

Uttar Pradesh is purchasing the crop at the MSP announced by the Centre

Mumbai: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Friday directed officials to pay the farmers within 72 hours of crop procurement. An official release in this regard comes as Rabi crop procurement for 2022-23 began on Friday, PTI reported.

“Officers should make all the necessary arrangements for the procurement of wheat in their respective districts so that farmers don’t face any problem,” Adityanath said.

Presiding over the high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister said that the officers should make all necessary arrangements for the purchase of wheat in their respective districts so that the farmers do not face any problems.

Adityanath has directed the officials to ensure all necessary arrangements for the farmers in the mandis besides guaranteeing timely harvesting of crops from the mandis.

This statement of the Chief Minister came after the Central Government fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of wheat at Rs 2,015 per quintal.

With this development, the ruling government has increased the MSP by Rs 40 from last year’s rate of Rs 1,975.

Uttar Pradesh is purchasing the crop at the MSP announced by the Centre.

According to the officials of the department, so far more than 1,48,383 farmers have registered themselves to sell their produce.

A total of 4,593 centers have been opened for the convenience of the farmers and procurement has started at 3,980 centres.

The Uttar Pradesh government has also introduced new tools and techniques to help farmers get the best price for their produce. The purchase is being done on the basis of the farmers’ biometric verification or their authorised representatives at the centres.
