The concept of the museum is guided by the vision of Prime Minister Modi to honour the contribution of all the Prime Ministers of India toward nation-building. Described as a tribute to every prime minister of India, it tells the story of post-independence India through the lives and contributions of its prime ministers.

The Prime Minister’s Office said the design of the museum building is inspired by the story of an emerging India, shaped and moulded by the hands of its leaders. The design incorporates sustainable and energy conservation practices.

“The logo of the museum represents the hands of the people of India with the Dharma Chakra, a symbol of the country and democracy,” the PMO said.

The museum has 43 galleries, including exhibits on the freedom struggle and constitution-making. The museum also tells how our Prime Ministers navigated the country through various challenges and ensured all-around progress of the country.

The Prime Minister’s Museum will have technologically advanced exhibits on the life and contributions of the country’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

“The Sangrahalaya is a seamless blend of the old and the new and includes the erstwhile Nehru Museum building, designated as Block I, which now has a completely updated, technologically-advanced display on the life and contributions of Jawaharlal Nehru. A number of gifts received by him from all over the world but not exhibited so far have been put on display in the renovated Block I,” an official said.
