Public Transport Suspended In Himachal, Essential Shops To Open For Only 3 Hours

Mumbai: Public transport has been suspended in Himachal Pradesh from today to check the spread of COVID-19. The Himachal Pradesh government has not imposed a complete lockdown yet but is taking stringent measures to fight the pandemic.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday, he said. The spokesman said that it was also decided that the shops of daily necessities and essential commodities would be open only three hours a day and the time of that would be decided by the concerned Deputy Commissioners.

The coronavirus curfew is already in force in the state from 7–17 May. The spokesman said that strict restrictions on suspending public transport and opening essential commodities shops for only three hours will come into force on May 10 from 6 am.

All public transport will remain suspended till further orders and private vehicles will only be allowed in case of emergency services, he added.

Chief Minister Thakur said these decisions have been taken to break the chain of the virus. He urged people to give their wholehearted support ineffective implementation of coronavirus curfew to combat the COVID-19 threat.
