Quran Sharif Focused On Education, Not Hijab: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Mumbai: Amid ongoing hijab controversy, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Quran Sharif is focused on education and not hijab.

This statement of the CM of Assam has come amid the ongoing controversy regarding Hijab in Karnataka.

The chief minister was responding to Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah, who sought clarification from Higher Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayan on yesterday’s statement during Zero Hour that the dress code applies to pre-university colleges and not degree colleges.

As protests for and against the hijab intensified in different parts of Karnataka and turned violent in some places following which the state government declared a holiday for all high schools and colleges in the state for three days, from February 9, and it was subsequently extended up to February 16 for colleges.
