Aryan Khan has now challenged the verdict in Bombay High Court, hearing on October 26

Mumbai: On Thursday morning Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was seen visiting Arthur Road jail to meet his son Aryan Khan, who was detained during the Narcotics Control Bureau raid on a Goa-bound cruise ship on October 3.

Earlier, family members and relatives weren’t allowed to meet the inmates due to Covid protocol. However, according to the latest notice by the jail authorities, two relatives can meet an inmate.

According to the jail authorities, today is a visitor’s day. Shah Rukh was asked to show his identity card at the entry gate. He went inside and as per the prison manual met his son for 15-20 minutes. They spoke to each other via intercom due to the glass fencing inside the prison. During the meet, four guards were present.

After weeks of interrogation, Aryan was sent to judicial custody. Two weeks back, he was sent to jail when his previous bail application was rejected.

On Wednesday, Aryan was again rejected bail by a Special NDPS court in Mumbai. Aryan Khan has now challenged the verdict in Bombay High Court. His legal team including senior advocate Amit Desai and lawyer Satish Maneshinde had reached the court on October 20.

Along with Aryan, 8 others were also detained. Other co-accused in the cruise drug case, including Aryan’s friend Arbaaz Merchant, and Munmun Dhamecha were also denied bail by the Mumbai court.

As per the court order, the reasons for not granting bail were listed as, “From WhatsApp chats of Applicant 1 (Aryan Khan), it is reflected that he was indulging in illicit drug activities. Respondent (ASG Anil Singh representing NCB) contended that since all the accused including applicant no. 1 (Aryan), are influential persons, they are likely to tamper with the evidence of prosecution if released on bail.”

Besides this, NCB has alleged Aryan of illicit international drug trafficking. “Respondent claimed that accused No. 1 (Aryan) is in touch with foreign nationals and other drug dealers who appear to be a part of an international drug network and investigation in this regard is going on and the respondent is tracing out the criminal antecedents of said persons. If any of the accused are released on bail, it will hamper the entire investigation,” read the court order.

The next bail hearing in the Aryan Khan drug case will be held on October 26.
