Spread Of Terrorism Can Reverse Efforts Of International Community: India At UNSC

External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh said those supporting it in any manner should be held responsible

Mumbai: India at UNSC on Tuesday said that spread of terrorism, particularly in countries facing conflicts, can reverse efforts of the international community and those supporting it in any manner should be held responsible.

Addressing the UN Security Council open debate on ‘Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Exclusion, Inequality and Conflict’ Minister of State for External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh said, “Spread of terrorism, particularly in countries facing conflicts, can reverse efforts of the international community. It is therefore imperative that terrorism in any form is condemned and those supporting it in any manner are held responsible.”

The open debate on ‘Maintenance of International Peace and Security was held under the current Presidency of Mexico.

Singh also took a swipe at China and said that it has always strived to foster global solidarity across the world with its development partnership efforts fully respecting national priorities and ensuring that its assistance does not create “indebtedness”.

He said, “India has always strived to foster global solidarity across the world with our development partnership efforts fully respecting national priorities and ensuring that our assistance remains demand-driven, contributes to employment generation and capacity building and does not create indebtedness. This is particularly true in countries in the post-conflict phase.”

He added that India has and will always continue to be a source of strong support to help UNSC build back better and stronger.
