Mumbai: As per reports, Mumbai police have recorded Aditya Chopra’s statement in connection with the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, and reportedly the filmmaker told the cops that the movie ‘Paani’ could not be made due to creative differences with director Shekhar Kapoor.
The head of Yash Raj Films said that the decision to abolish ‘Paani’ had nothing to do with Sushant Singh Rajput.
Chopra’s statement was recorded by the Mumbai Police on Saturday. According to police officials in the case, Chopra was grilled for more than four hours.
According to reports, Sushant signed a three-movie contract with Yash Raj Films. He starred in two YRF productions, ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ (2013) and ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshi’ (2015). His third YRF project was ‘Paani’, to be directed by Shekhar Kapur. However, the project could not be implemented.
Meanwhile, Rhea, in a tweet to Union Home Minister Amit Shah earlier this month, had sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the matter.
On the other hand, advocate Seema Samridhi, who handled the Nirbhaya rape case, has reacted to the actor’s death and has questioned police investigation.
She said, “If No, suicide note, then why did they call it to suicide without investigation?”
Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging at his residence on June 14. The actor’s postmortem report stated that he committed suicide.
