Tamil Nadu Government Writes To Centre To Ban The Family Man Season 2 In India
Mumbai: Tamil Nadu government has written a letter to Union Minister Prakash Javadekar saying The Family Man Season 2’s release on Amazon Prime Video must be banned in India, saying it depicted the Eelam Tamils in a “highly objectionable manner.”
Claiming the serial to contain “malicious, inappropriate and malicious content”, Tamil Nadu IT Minister T Mano Thangaraj said the trailer, released on social media, was intended to discredit and distort the historical struggle of Eelam Tamils in Sri Lanka.
“I would like to point out that the above serial has not only hurt the sentiments of Eelam Tamils but has also hurt the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu on a large scale and if it is allowed to be aired, it would be prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony in the state,” he said in a letter to Information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar.
Mr Thangaraja claimed that the sacrifice of his long-standing democratic fight was deliberately curtailed, and cannot in any way be regarded as a serial with any value to Tamil culture. is.
“A serial loaded with insults and insinuations against the glorious Tamil culture could never be considered as the one having any broadcasting value.”
He said, “Branding Tamil-speaking actress Samantha as a terrorist in the serial is a direct attack on the pride of Tamils living across the globe and no one will tolerate such an inspired and mischievous campaign.”
He said that the trailer of the series has already received strong and widespread opposition from the people of Tamil Nadu and the political parties of the state.
“While our brethren Eelam Tamils are struggling for decades to enjoy the fruits of equality, justice, peace and dignity in the island nation, it is highly unwarranted for an organisation like Amazon Prime to undertake this kind of a smear campaign against the Tamils who are the builder of India as well as many nations across the globe,” Mr Thangaraj said.
