Tiger Census Report Released, Population Doubles Since 2006

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday released the All India Tiger Estimation Report 2018 and said that the country has emerged as one of the largest and most secure housings for tigers in the world.

According to the report, the population of tigers in the country increased from 1,411 in 2006 to 2,967 in 2019.
Modi said that with almost 3,000 tigers, India has emerged as one of the biggest and most secure housing for them in the world, Modi said that he appreciated all the stakeholders involved in the country’s Tiger Conservation Practice.

“Nine years ago, it was decided in Saint Petersburg (Russia) that the goal of doubling the tiger population would be 2022. We completed this goal in India four years ago. Example, through resolutions,), “he said.

“In 2014, the number of protected areas was 692, the number increased to 860 in 2019. Similarly, the number of community stores in 2014 was 43 and more than 100 in 2019.”

He said India will build more homes for its citizens and also create quality habitats for animals at the same time.
