TN Issues New Curbs, Religious Gatherings Banned, Only 50% Occupancy In Cinemas

Mumbai: Tamil Nadu government has issued new COVID-19 guidelines which would come into effect from April 10. Religious gatherings and festivals are banned. Shops are allowed to function till 11 pm.

Only 50% occupancy is allowed in restaurants, recreational clubs, amusement parks, multiplexes and theatres

In addition, social, political, educational, entertainment, sports and cultural events will only be allowed in indoor spaces with a maximum capacity of 200 people. While offices can run, the government has advised qualified candidates to take the COVID-19 vaccine to avoid the spread of the deadly virus.

Following are the new COVID Guidelines.

  • No commuter will be allowed to stand in state transport corporation and private buses.
  • Small traders at Koyambedu wholesale market alone banned from April 10.
  • Fruit and vegetable shops, shopping malls, large format stores, jewellery stores can operate only with 50% capacity till 11 p.m.
  • Audiences will not be allowed in the playground, IPL should be held without an audience in Chennai.
  • 50 per cent capacity at hotels and tea stalls, restaurants allowed to operate till 11 p.m.
  • Only 100 persons allowed at weddings and 50 persons at funerals.
  • E Registration mandatory to enter the state.
  • The only business to business exhibitions to be allowed.
  • Only two persons can travel in autorickshaws.
  • In swimming pools, only sports training will be allowed.
  • TV serial and film shooting will be permitted, but crew and cast required to get RT-PCR tests.

Tamil Nadu recorded 3986 positive cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the state tally to 9,11,110. Among these, Chennai reported 1459 positive cases, bringing the city’s total to 2,57,851. The state recorded 17 deaths on Wednesday, putting the state toll at 12,821. Fourteen of them had succumbed due to comorbidities. A total of 1824 patients were discharged following treatment, taking the total number of recoveries to 8,70,546.

As of Wednesday, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu is 27,743.
