UP Ends All COVID-19 Curbs, Allows Weddings At 100% Capacity

Mumbai: The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday released an order, underlining that all COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted in the state amid dipping cases.

The order said weddings and other events can take place at full capacity of the venue while following coronavirus-appropriate behaviour.

Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Avneesh Awasthi gave permission to open a swimming pool, water park and Anganwadi centre in order.

Awasthi said that though many activities were allowed in the past, there were restrictions on the opening of swimming pools, water parks and Anganwadi centres, weddings and other functions.

The order said that people for weddings and other functions can attend the venue at full capacity, with the mandatory use of masks and following the COVID-19 protocols.

The official clarified that all activities will be allowed in strict compliance with the COVID-19 protocol.

Meanwhile, with 2,539 new coronavirus infections reported in a day, the total number of COVID-19 cases in India rose to 4,30,01,477, while active cases declined to 30,799, according to data from the Union Health Ministry. Updated on Thursday.
