UP Polls 2022: Akhilesh Rules Out Alliance Possibility With AIMIM Ahead Of UP Polls

Citing an example from UP's Banda where an alleged BJP man killed a poor restaurant worker, Akhilesh attacked CM Yogi Adityanath

Mumbai: Ahead of upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday ruled out any possibility of an alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in the state.

“Only a few smaller parties remain with whom we are in touch. We will not ally with the AIMIM,” Akhilesh said in an exclusive interview with Times Now, adding that Samajwadi Party has almost finalised its alliance.

Citing an example from UP’s Banda where an alleged BJP man killed a poor restaurant worker, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh attacked CM Yogi Adityanath and said those who do not have a family will never understand the pain of losing a loved one.

He further slammed the Yogi-led BJP, saying that the saffron party has not fulfilled its promises, whether they pertained to the upliftment of the poor, providing safety and security to the common man.

He also claimed that his party gave Rs 1 lakh each to families of poor labourers who got killed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Responding to UP Deputy CM Keshav Maurya’s remarks on Mathura, Akhilesh said, “The people in the government who had promised to double the farmers’ income have nothing to show by way of achievement over these five years which is why they are taking up these issues. The BJP government in UP has completely failed to deliver.”

Last month, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president Jayant Chaudhary has hinted at forming an alliance with Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party in the state. However, the final decision will be taken by both parties by end of this month.

The elections will be held in Uttar Pradesh in the month of February to March 2022 to elect 403 members of the Legislative Assembly.
