Uri To Hit Theaters Again On July 26

Mumbai: The Surgical Strike, starring the new heartthrob of Bollywood, Vicky Kaushal and the very talented Yami Gautam was theatrically released on January 11, 2019, and earned over 342 crores worldwide.

The film was based on September 18, 2016, attacks on the army headquarters in Uri at Kashmir, near the LoC. Four militants, along with 17 army personnel were killed in the six-hour gun battle, following which on 29 September, India struck back with a Surgical Strike.

Plans are underway to re-release Uri on July 26 on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. It will be showcased across 500 theatres.

The crew of the film, while shooting, discussed that if they were able to inspire one person to join the force, the purpose of making the film would be served. “The greatest validation for any filmmaker is to know that he has inspired youngsters to think about the valour and sacrifice of our brave soldiers and instil these very emotions in them. It’s a wonderful initiative by our Chief Minister Mr.Devendra Fadnavis and I’m glad people will get to see the film for free this time”, said Aditya Dhar,” the director of the film.

Meanwhile, the actor-director duo along with producer Ronnie Screwvala are working together on a new project, Ashwatthama, an action-based superhero film in modern-day times.
