A Consignment Worth 1.5 Crores Of Cannabis Has Been Seized

Mumbai: The Mumbai Zonal Unit of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) led an operation to seize around 1004 kgs of Cannabis (ganja), whose derivatives are used as party drugs for example Marijuana. The consignment was on its way to Nagpur from Odisha when it was seized in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. The consignment was to be distributed in Mumbai, Goa and Nagpur.

The consignment was worth 1.5 crores and was being transported by the members of a trafficking syndicate in an ambulance with siren and tinted windows.

The ambulance was halted after a chase of over 16 hours by officials. It travelled from Chhattisgarh to the Maharashtra border. According to sources, the ambulance suspected that it was being followed and changed rerouted to Madhya Pradesh to find a safer way to enter Maharashtra.

Two men, including the driver of the ambulance, have been arrested and will be taken into questioning about their accomplices. The search for it was started when DRI Mumbai received a tip about the same.
