Vidya Balan Makes Her Debut As Producer For Shor Film ‘Natkhat’

Mumbai: Making her debut as a producer, Vidya Balan has paired up with her producer friend Ronnie Screwvala for ‘Natkhat’ that deals with the rape culture in India.

According to sources, the short film has been co-written and directed by Shaan Vyas, who has produced critically acclaimed films like Masaan(2015) and Shahid(2012). Shaan was keen that Vidya plays the lead role, but to his surprise, she readily agreed to be a producer as well. The film is currently under work and is bound to go on floors the next month.

Known for versatility and perfection, Vidya Balan said, “It’s a powerful story that called out to me in a way that made me want to act in it and also turn producer. And who better than RSVP to do it with! It explores the patriarchal imitation culture across India through innocence, relationships and euphemisms, which have not been showcased on screen before.”

She is currently busy promoting Mission Mangal which also stars Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Sharman Joshi, Sonakshi Sinha and many more. She is also working on a web series based on the only female Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, which will be produced by her husband Siddharth Roy Kapur.
