Weekend Curfew Lifted In Delhi; Bars, Restaurants Allowed To Open At 50% Capacity

Mumbai: Weekend curfew has been lifted in Delhi amid a decline in COVID-19 positivity rate. Cinema halls, restaurants and bars can now open at a capacity of 50% and shops can open without the odd-even rule.

The virtual meeting, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other key officials, however, decided to continue the curfew in the national capital from 10 pm to 5 am.

It was also decided in the meeting that with the decline in COVID-19 cases in Delhi, the odd-even arrangement for non-essential shops would also be done away with.

The report said that a decision on reopening the schools will be taken in the next meeting of DDMA.

In the DDMA meeting held today, it was also decided that weddings in Delhi would be allowed with a maximum attendance of 200 people or 50 per cent of the venue’s capacity. Till now, only 20 people were allowed to attend such events at home. Additional sources said government offices can function with 50 per cent capacity.

In today’s meeting, it was also decided that the due diligence of COVID will be strictly enforced and enhanced and other guidelines will also be introduced to prevent any possible increase in cases.

A number of curbs had been imposed in Delhi to check the spread of the virus, including night and weekend curfews and odd-even system for shops, during the Omicron variant driven the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
