Twenty-eight-year-old Moose Wala enjoyed huge popularity and even became a part of controversies during his career as a singer and a politician as he was accused of encouraging the use of guns in his songs. His killing has been called a “political murder” by Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Warring. Moose Wala had joined the party in December, just ahead of the state elections.

The killing came just a day after his security was downgraded as a part of the state’s measures against the “VIP culture”

Waring, who went to Moose Wala’s house in Mansa district on Monday, met the bereaved family members of his party colleague. He reprimanded the state police and Bhagwant Man Singh Sarkar over the murder as the murder was blamed on an inter-gang rivalry.

Punjab DGP VK Bhavra said in a press conference on Sunday evening that Canada-based Goldie Brar and jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi are allegedly involved in the murder.

He said, “The Punjab DGP should be ashamed as it is his responsibility to control law and order… but he is running away from his responsibility by calling it gang rivalry. We will go to the high court and will meet the governor. If we didn’t get justice then we’ll also meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah,” the Punjab Congress chief was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“It has happened because of the failure of the government and the incompetence of the police. It should be probed by a sitting judge and under the National Investigation Agency. It is a political murder. The government should step down,” he said.

“Why was his (Sidhu Moose Wala) security reduced? 40-45 people, including a kabaddi player, lost their lives in two months. We will meet the Union Home Minister, the Governor and will also appeal in the High Court,” the warning said.
