Will Not Allow Goa To Become ‘Coal Hub’: Rahul Gandhi Ahead of Goa Assembly Polls

Rahul Gandhi assured them that the Congress party will fulfil all the promises made to them in the election manifesto

Mumbai: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday visited the poll-bound state and interacted with members of the fishermen community in Velsao, Goa.

During interacting with the fishermen, Rahul Gandhi highlighted the need to protect the environment as well as the livelihood, saying that they wouldn’t allow the coastal state to turn into a ‘Coal Hub’.

“We will not allow Goa to become a polluted place. We will not allow it to become a Coal hub. We are protecting the environment for everyone,” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Goa.

Rahul Gandhi also assured them that the Congress party will fulfil all the promises made to them in the election manifesto.

“We fought elections in Chhattisgarh and promised to waive the loan of farmers and we did it. You can go and confirm it in Punjab, Karnataka also. Whatever goes in our manifesto is a guarantee, not only a promise,” said Rahul Gandhi.

He further attacked the centre on increasing fuel prices and alleged that if we look carefully some 4-5 businesses are benefitting from this.

“During UPA govt, international fuel prices reached $140 per barrel. Today fuel prices are much lower in the international market but still you pay more. Today India taxing fuel the highest in the world. If you look carefully there’re 4-5 businessmen who are benefitting from this,” added Rahul Gandhi.

Later in the day, Gandhi will also be meeting communities affected by the mining ban. He will then attend a Congress workers convention at the S P Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Taleigaon.

His visit to the coastal state comes ahead of scheduled Assembly polls in the state in February 2022.
