‘Woh Badmash Hai’: Manoj Tiwari On Owaisi’s Remark On Gyanvapi Case

Mumbai: Reacting to AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s remark that Muslims won’t give up the Gyanvapi Mosque, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said, “Woh (Owaisi) badmash hai (He is a troublemaker).”

Talking to reporters, Tiwari said, “Where the truth is out, we don’t need to fight. It is sub-judice and the court will give its verdict at an appropriate time. Only want to say that where the proof is in front of us, no one has to fight. Let’s have faith in the judiciary, we will accept the court’s verdict.”

When asked for his reaction to Owaisi’s warning that Muslims won’t give up the Gyanvapi masjid like Babri and will fight till the end, Tiwari dismissed it, saying, “Woh (Owaisi) badmash hai (He is a troublemaker).”

On Thursday, a Varanasi court adjourned till May 30 the hearing on a petition filed by a mosque committee by a group of Hindu women. The Muslim side had argued that the claim of a ‘Shivling’ was found inside the mosque premises on the basis of an estimate. The Muslim side also added to its arguments that such baseless rumours are creating public unrest.

The Muslim party stated that the “existence of Shivling is only alleged and not yet proven.”

Days before a Varanasi court ordered the closure of the mosque area, where a ‘Shivling’ was claimed to have been found, after a three-day court survey, Owaisi compared the development to the demolition of the Babri Masjid. and claimed that “Gyanvapi was and will remain a mosque till the day of judgment”.

He called the Varanasi court’s move a violation of the Places of Worship Act 1991. Incidentally, the “secular” act has now been challenged in the Supreme Court by a Hindu saint.

“This is a repetition of the December 1949 textbook at the Babri Masjid. This order changes the religious nature of the mosque. This is a violation of the 1991 Act. It was my apprehension and it has come true. Gyanvapi Masjid was and will remain the mosque till the day of the verdict,” Owaisi wrote on his Twitter handle.

On May 20, the top court directed the Varanasi district judge to hear the Gyanvapi case.
