12 Lakh Govt Positions Vacant But Jobs Not Given: Sonia Gandhi

Mumbai: Campaigning for UP polls, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Monday accused the government of failing to provide jobs to youth despite lakhs of vacant positions.

Speaking at a press conference held virtually, he said, “The youth study and prepare for jobs but the BJP government has made them sit at home. 12 lakh government jobs are vacant but youth are not being given employment.”

The Congress leader alleged that the prices of petrol, diesel, LPG, mustard oil are skyrocketing, making it difficult for people to run their homes.

“During the lockdown, your business was closed. You had to bear the pain of walking miles. But the Modi-Yogi governments acted irresponsibly and turned their faces away and closed their eyes, despite the pain of the people. The government didn’t provide any relief,” she said.

Speaking further, he appealed that these elections are important for the people because for five years they saw a government that did nothing but create differences among them.

“These elections are important for you because for five years you saw a government which did nothing but create differences among you. Farmers grow crops with a lot of hard work. You neither got paid nor received fertilisers, not even irrigation facilities,” she said.

The fourth phase of voting for the Assembly elections in UP will be held on February 23. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
