14-Yr-Old commits Suicide After Being Refused To Complete Garena Free Fire Game Challenge

Mumbai: A 14-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide in Mumbai after he refused to challenge a teenager to the Garena Free Fire game.

The case is being further probed, Bhoiwada Police said, news agency ANI reported.

Bhoiwada Police said that Garena Free Fire is also banned in India. According to a report in Hindustan Times, the police said that the boy was addicted to the online game Garena Free Fire.

“Preliminary probe has revealed that the boy was addicted to Free Fire online game, but what exactly triggered him to take the extreme step is still a mystery,” police said in the report

“The online game he was accustomed to needing to be played in groups. So we are trying to find out who his friends were and who were his co-players in the game to find out if something happened during the game that caused him to take this drastic step.”

Garena Free Fire emerged as the most downloaded mobile game worldwide for December 2021, with nearly 24 million installs, representing an increase of 28.2 per cent from December 2020.

According to a report by Sensor Tower, the countries where the app was installed the most during this period accounted for about 26 per cent of total downloads in India and 12 per cent in Brazil.
