18 Kids Contract COVID-19 At Children’s Home In Mumbai In 3 Days

Mumbai: According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 18 children tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) at a children’s home in the eastern suburb of Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai.

According to BMC, all children have been shifted to an isolation ward at a COVID-19 centre in Vashi Naka.

“Eighteen children have tested positive for Covid-19 at a children’s home in Mankhurd. All children have been shifted to an isolation ward at a Covid centre in Vashi Naka,” BMC said, according to news agency ANI.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 4,666 new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally of infections to 64,56,939, even as 3,301 patients were discharged. The death toll in the state rose to 137,157 after 131 people died and its number of active cases rose to 52,844. Maharashtra has a recovery rate of 97 per cent and a mortality rate of 2.12 per cent. At present, there are 52,844 active cases.

Mumbai reports 345 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths – now the city’s caseload rises to 7,43,499 and the death toll stands at 15,974. According to the Health Department, not a single case of infection was reported in Jalna, Akola, Yavatmal, Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia district and Parbhani city on Sunday. The department said that there were no deaths due to Covid-19 in Nagpur and Akola divisions of the Vidarbha region during the day.
