Neeraj Thanks Avani For Giving Indians Opportunity To Listen To The National Anthem Again In Tokyo

Mumbai: Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra on Monday congratulated Avani Lekhara for winning a gold medal at the ongoing Paralympic Games.

Avani created history by winning a gold medal in the Women’s R2-10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event at the Aska Shooting Range. The 19-year-old became the first woman from India to win a Paralympic gold medal.

Avani finished with a Paralympic Record and in-process equalled the World Record with 249.6 points.

Avani Lekhara started the final at a very good pace as she scored above 10 points in a row. In the first leg of the competition, only two of her shots went down to 10, leaving her in second place.

Moving into the elimination stage, Avni finished first and maintained a very healthy lead against her opponents. The Indian continued her stellar run and ended up with 249.6 points in the end.
