187 Died Due To Natural Disasters, Accidents In Himachal Since June 13

Shimla: As many as 187 people died and four persons have gone missing due to natural disasters and accidents in Himachal Pradesh since June 13, State Disaster Management Authority Director Sudesh Kumar Mokhta said.

A total of 381 animals has also died during the period since June 13, 2021.

Speaking to ANI, Sudesh Kumar Mokhta, Director-cum-Special Secretary (Revenue-Disaster Management), Himachal Pradesh said that 28 roads including Batseri and Chitkul area are closed.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Kinnaur district administration, he said that around 90 tourists are stranded in Chitkul area of ​​Kinnaur district as the road repair work cannot be done with continuous stones in the area.

“After June 13, there were several incidents including two major accidents – one in Kangra and the other in Batseri. So far 187 people have died and 4 people have gone missing after drowning,” Mokhta said.

“During the monsoon, 381 animals died across the state. There has been a loss of Rs 401 crore till yesterday.

At least nine people were killed and three were injured when a bridge over a hill collapsed due to a landslide in Kinnaur district on Sunday.

Mokhta said that a 3-member special team of the Geological Survey of India will visit the Sangla area of ​​Kinnaur on July 27, 28 and 29. He said that the Disaster Management Authority is also planning to start a pilot project to study landslides.
