20-Year-Old Held For Raping Woman On Pretext Of Marriage In Odisha

Mumbai: A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marriage in Odisha’s Jajpur on Wednesday after she a complaint against him.

Police said the woman, who lodged the complaint at Jakhapura police station, claimed that the accused raped her several times on the pretext of tying the knot.

A police officer said, “The two became friends while studying in the same college and later fell in love… A year later, when the woman proposed marriage, the accused refused.”

The man has been remanded to judicial custody after his bail plea was rejected, he added.
