8-10 Men Gangrape Spanish Woman In Her Tent In Jharkhand

Mumbai; A Spanish woman was allegedly gangraped in Jharkhand’s Dumka district on Friday night, police said. It’s reported that around eight to 10 men were involved in the crime.

The incident occurred when the woman, who was touring the city on a bike with her husband, had stopped to spend the night at a tent. The police have launched a probe.

The event happened in Jharkhand, where the Spanish tourist had stopped for the night while riding a bike track from Bangladesh to Bihar and then Nepal. According to the official, a manhunt is underway for the remaining individuals, with three arrests having been made thus far. A nearby hospital has admitted the survivor.

Dumka SP Pitamber Singh Kherwar told the Times Of India, “At around 10:30 p.m.-11 p.m., the woman stopped a police van that was on patrol in the area for help. She had some bruise injuries too. The policemen took her to the hospital where she told doctors that she was raped. We are looking into the case.”

The tourist has reportedly posted about the incident on her social media, seeking help. 

According to a second officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the incident involved seven or eight young people from the area. The official stated that a manhunt is underway for the remaining individuals and that three arrests have been made thus far.  

A nearby hospital has admitted the victim. The duo, according to reports, had traveled by two-wheeler from Bangladesh to Dumka and was now headed to Bihar and Nepal.

Interestingly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Jharkhand on the day of the alleged crime and voiced grave concerns about extortion and law & order in the region.
