21 Indian Navy Personnel Test Positive For Coronavirus In Mumbai

Mumbai: According to officials, at least 20 marines have tested positive for the novel coronavirus on an INS temper basis in Mumbai.

The Indian Navy on Saturday confirmed that 21 serving personnel have tested positive for Kovid-19 inside the naval complex in Mumbai. The number includes 20 sailors from INS Angre, a shore establishment in Mumbai.

“Most of these are asymptomatic and have been traced to a single sailor, which was tested on April 7,” the Navy said.

All primary contacts (though asymptomatic) were tested for coronovirus. The entire lockout block was immediately placed under quarantine, control area, and INS temper lockdown. The Indian Navy said that action is being taken as per established protocol.

There have been no cases of infection onboard ships and submarines.

India has reported a total of 13,835 positive cases of the virus, while the death toll has risen to 452 on Friday, according to the Union Health Ministry’s data. As many as 1,767 people have discharged from the hospitals after successfully recovering from the infection.
