Mumbai: In a circular for all affiliated colleges, the University of Mumbai has announced that the second term for 2020-21 will start from January 1 and continue till May 31, 2021.
“All faculties, including traditional (arts, commerce, and science) as well as interdisciplinary studies, have followed the first term from 7 August to 31 December. The second term will be between 1 January to 31 May, and the summer holidays will take place from June 1 to 13,” states the circular.
According to the MU’s 18 November circular, affiliated colleges have to conduct online exams for current batches of undergraduate courses by December 2020, while postgraduate exams should be held in January 2021. Subsequently, the Bombay University and College Teachers Union (BUCTU) approached the vice-chancellor of the MU, seeking to postpone the examinations of the first-year degree college. Teachers said that due to the delay in admission to first-year courses, most colleges have not managed to teach the mandatory 90 days before exams, making it impossible to hold exams in December.
