Mumbai: Three men were arrested on Thursday for the alleged abduction and rape of a 23-year-old mentally challenged woman at Government General Hospital in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada.

The matter came to light after the parents of the victim lodged a missing complaint with the police on Wednesday.

According to city police commissioner Kanti Rana Tata, the victim’s mother approached the police and lodged a missing complaint.

According to a report in the Times of India, based on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and found that the woman was last seen with Dara Srikkanth, a contract employee of the hospital.

After this, he intensified the investigation and started interrogating him.

Police said the investigation revealed that Srikanth promised the woman a job in GGH and admitted the woman to the hospital on Tuesday. After reaching there, he kidnapped the girl and raped her on the pretext of marriage.

He sexually assaulted the woman overnight and left her in the room of the cleaning staff of GGH.

Seeing the victim alone in the room, sanitation workers Chennu Babu Rao and J Pawan Kalyan also raped her. Later, Srikant confessed to the crime and the police rescued her from the sanitation workers’ room where she was tied with a rope.
