3 Terrorists Who Were Likely To Attack Security Forces Held In J&K

Mumbai: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested three Lashkar-e-Taiba hybrid terrorists in Sopore and seized three pistols, three magazines, 22 pistols rounds, a grenade and ₹79,800 from them.

A joint Naka was set up by 22 RR, Sopore Police and 179 Bn CRPF at Sonarwen bridge near Vandura Bala, a village under the jurisdiction of Bomai police station in Sopore.

During checking in the Naka, it was found that three persons were going towards the Naka under suspicious circumstances. The Naka party noticed his suspicious body language and later asked him to stop.

Though the suspects tried to run away from the spot by resorting to darkness, they were caught by alert and alert soldiers.

The soldiers assessed the situation and displayed extreme restraint and fire control in not opening fire, keeping civilians in the dark and in close proximity to the area to avoid any civilian casualties.

On searching them, three pistols, three magazines, 22 round pistols, one grenade and cash of Rs 79,800 were recovered from them.

In the preliminary investigation, they revealed their identity as Abdul Majeed Mir, son of Gund Mohalla, Tufail Ahmed Mir, Barat Kalan, Owais Ahmed Mir, son Hasan Mir resident of Mir Mohalla, Barat Kalan and Shabbir Ahmed Wage. The son of Nazir Ahmed Wage, who is a resident of Masjid Mohalla, Pethabagh.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested terrorists have links with Lashkar. Accordingly, a case has been registered in this regard at Police Station, Bomai under relevant sections of the law and further investigation is on. The alertness and proactiveness of the security forces averted a major tragedy, which was planned to disrupt the prevailing peace in the Valley.
