32 People Tested Positive For COVID-19 In Delhi Yesterday, 29 Participated In Nizamuddin Program: Health Minister of Delhi

Mumbai: Thirty-two people tested positive in Delhi on Wednesday and 29 of them participated in Nizamuddin’s Tablighi Jamaat program.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said on Thursday that a total of 700 infected and confirmed cases of COVID-19 are in various hospitals here.

Between 13 March and 15 March, a huge religious gathering was held at Markaz Bhawan of Nizamuddin. The incident came to headlines after several coronavirus cases were confirmed among participants in the incident.

An FIR has been lodged against the Tablighi Jamaat chief Maulana Saad and others under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 in Delhi.

In a joint operation by the authorities, a total of 2,361 people were evacuated from Markaz, which lasted for more than 36 hours, after which the South Delhi Municipal Corporation revived the campus and surrounding areas.

According to data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of confirmed cases in the country now stands at 1965, out of which 151 people have recovered, while 50 have died.
