6 Women Rescued From Sex Trade In Mumbai, Hotel Staffer Arrested

Mumbai: The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested the manager of a hotel in Sakinaka and rescued six women aged between 24-31 years from the sex trade. Police sent a dummy customer to the hotel where a woman was waiting for him.

Police said that both the accused are absconding. According to a report published in the Indian Express, the Crime Branch got specific information about an alleged sex racket operating in Sakinaka’s hotel.

The crime branch reached the hotel with the dummy customer and laid a trap to catch the accused red-handed. On Wednesday, the Crime Branch team raided the hotel and rescued a woman.

During interrogation, the woman told the police that she was forced into prostitution and that five other women also lived in a flat near the hotel, who were forced into prostitution. The police team immediately reached the flat and rescued 5 women.

As per the police, the manager of the hotel has been arrested under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal code (IPC) including relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA). The police have launched a manhunt to catch the two accused.
