60-Yr-Old Man Held For Raping Teenage Girl In Thane

Mumbai: Police on Wednesday arrested a 60-year-old man for raping a minor girl working at his home in Maharashtra’s Thane district. An official gave this information.

Referring to the complaint of the victim, the assistant inspector of Ganesh police station Sunil Jadhav said that the accused has carried out the incident on several occasions in a village here since May this year.

The 14-year-old victim had lost her father a few years back and was abandoned by her mother. She said that she used to work as a babysitter in the house of the accused and also grazed cattle there.

The officer said that the accused allegedly raped her on several occasions when she used to graze cattle in a nearby forest and also threatened her with dire consequences.

He said on Monday the wife of the accused came to know about the crime and informed her neighbour, who took the girl to a local social organisation, who helped the victim file a complaint with the police.

He said the accused was later arrested and a case was registered against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
