Law Student Who Accused Chinmayanand Of Rape, Arrested By SIT For Extortion

Mumbai: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday arrested the woman law student for extortion, accusing BJP leader Swami Chinmayananda of sexual misconduct and harassment.

The case for the anticipatory bail hearing of the law by the Allahabad High Court was scheduled for hearing on Thursday, but the SIT did not wait for the court’s decision, as some phone calls showed that the victim was planning to flee.

The woman was arrested from her home here and taken to the Kotwali police station. She was then taken for medical examination and will be presented in court later.

The woman and three other boys, who were earlier arrested, allegedly forcibly called Chinmayananda and asked her to pay Rs 5 crore otherwise they would make her intimate videos public. Chinmayananda had earlier lodged a complaint in this regard.
