National Capital On Alert; Four JeM Operatives Might Have Entered City

Mumbai: National Capital is on high-alert following an intelligence input about some Kashmiri rebels, who have reached the city to carry out terrorist attacks during the festive season. Four heavily armed JeM operatives may enter the city.

A TOI report said that raids were conducted at nine locations in the city on Wednesday night. At least two suspects were detained. It is believed that the Jaish-e-Mohammed, the terror group with which threatens to retaliate after the repeal of Section 370, managed to send a group of fidayeen to the city last week.

The security was heightened at air force bases in Amritsar and Pathankot in Punjab and Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.

An orange alert has been placed at Srinagar, Jammu, Avantipur, Pathankot and Hindon airbase targets after intelligence agencies monitored the antics of terrorists. The Orange Alert is only the second-largest alert for the Red Alert, which, if released, will ban schools and ban movements in the airbase.

The US has also feared a terrorist attack on India by Pakistani terrorists. Many countries are worried that Pakistani terrorists may launch attacks in India in the wake of the abolition of Section 370, which gave special status to the erstwhile state, Defense Secretary of the Indo-Pacific Security Affairs, Randall Shriver said recently.
